Yes, I'm still alive

Heh. Two years' worth of radio silence...-really- not my intention, I promise.

Anyway.

Long story short, stuff happened and I sorta-kinda forgot about the site. I'm back, and I actually have a few things to post here. Hopefully I'll do a better job keeping up with stuff here...

call for help--commissions

Tue Feb 13, 2007, 8:59 PM
I'm not going to go into details, but I have a friend that's had a bit of a rough time financially and is in need of assistance to help pay off some bills. Until further notice, I will be offering beaded jewelry commissions to raise money to help this friend. Price ranges are as follows:

Earrings: $5-15
Bracelets: $8-15
Anklets: $10-17
Necklaces: $12-30

I use primarily gemstone chip beads, as well as various shell and wooden beads. I also have access to a large selection of gemstones both raw and tumbled to wire-wrap for pendants.

Prices will vary depending on the beads used, number of strands, and (except for earrings) the type of clasp used. I will be charging a flat rate of $4 for shipping. I can accept payments by cash, check, money order, or PayPal, but be advised that if you pay by check I will not send your items until after your check clears. When your items are mailed, I will email you with the tracking number.

If you are interested, please email me at ladykaiyu@gmail.com or leave me a comment here. If you know anyone that might be interested in a commission, please feel free to pass along my email address. If anyone that reads this wants to copy and paste this entry to their own journal and/or link to this entry, please feel free. The more people that see this, the better the chances of being able to help my friend out...

computer screens

I've got a question for anyone that's had a laptop and uses it for their artwork: have you ever had a piece that you were working on that looks fine on your laptop, only to have the coloring on said piece look too dark on most peoples' computers? Any ideas on how to compensate for this?

question

Quick question: exactly what types of stuff are considered "oven safe"? I'm going to make a new sculpture (probably in a couple weeks, after my financial situation straightens out), and I already have a rough idea how I want to pose it. However, that particular pose means that I know that I'm going to have to support it in the oven so it doesn't collape while baking...hence my question:-)

...and before anyone asks, the oven's going to be at 275 degrees fareinheit, and baking time will probably be about fifteen to twenty minutes:-)
